Bus systems are basically decentralized systems – so why not install actuators in a decentralized fashion in offices, too? |

| Advantages | |
| The advantages are clear to see. As shown in figure 1, a decentralized solution needs less cabling in order to achieve the same aim. Less cabling means lower fire load and installation costs and faster assembly times. All Ecobus office actuators are fully insertable , which further reduces the work and time required for installation and assembly. This ensures the Ecobus EIB installation process can be performed at lower cost than conventional EIB installations. Decentrally located actuators require less space in sub-distribution cabinets and can take advantage of smaller bore holes in ceilings and walls. Only the EIB system devices need to be installed in the sub-distribution cabinet. It is widely accepted that EIB is an easily extendable system, and therefore futureproof. Flexibility in the Ecobus EIB installation provides the additional advantage of allowing to install and feed decentralized office actuators directly on the flat cable system. The connection technology, requiring no removal of sheathing, uses proven connectors (contacts piercing the conductors through the cable insulation), so that, for example, additional actuators or sensors can be integrated in the system with a tapping line. Each room has its own specific requirements in terms of functionality, such as dimming lights or controling window blinds. Ecobus EIB office actuators provide support for these special eletrical installation functions . So, the office actuator B-2D/2J EVG shown in the drawing has been developed to switch or dim two lamps (depending on outside light conditions) and to control two window blind motors. The quickest way to achieve this functionality is using an Ecobus EIB installation. The system can be installed away from the central control system, in the room where the functionality is needed, thus minimizing distance and cable runs. A further individual solution is provided by office actuator EIB System B-S320 . This device enables the comforts of the EIB system to be enjoyed in selected rooms, such as training or meeting rooms, without the need for additional sub-distribution boxes and at low installation cost. The EIB system components do not require a sub-distribution system! By laying the Ecobus Combi flat cable system, every building can be equipped with a flexible railbased power system to which extensions such as floor-mounted distribution points can be adapted as required. |
